    I have always sketched the pets who have shared my life. It was a natural progression to take the sketch to a detailed portrait. With each layer of pencil or pastel applied, I am reaching deeper into that particular animals' unique spirit and connecting to that soulful presence that gradually reveals itself in the finished pet portrait.
